Tangled

Take a breather
maybe
take a breath
Try a little harder

Your wounds are open
but your heart is closed
your words are broken
and your faith, stolen

Push, press, run
try as you might
escape the hold
or watch

disaster
unfold

You’re trapped
in a sea of worry
tangled with truth
weaving into
what you know as

your life story.

You’re tangled
and broken
like having your soul
stolen
as you have your picture
taken

You’re back where you started
alone with the faithful departed

but mostly
alone.

They don’t hear your
screams
They don’t hear your
cries

They attack you in your
dreams
They torment you with
lies

And you’re back
where you started
alone
just as you were
just as you are
when you started
alone.

  1. Come here my child,
    Lie on my weary breast
    Tell me more,
    Tell me all.

    Hear not my silence,
But as I beat to the rhythm
    Of thy broken soul.
