Callous eyes

She knows about the stalkers.
She has seen them too.

Buried deep in a dark corner
of her innocence preserved mind
she knows. She knows
what they desire, these stalkers.

She sees them
watching and they stare at her
with empty eyes.

Not a minute to herself
she ignores the voices.
Given nothing but silence
they linger impatiently, pulling
furiously at the threads of her sanity.

I can’t talk now, she mumbles,
trying as best as she can
not to move her lips.

But the stalkers,
their empty soulless eyes see
everything.
